Santosh Kumar, Indian Railway Account Service(IRAS) at Ministry of Railways, India (2017-present)
1.India and the USA both are among leading democratic countries of the world. The democratic fervour in both the countries are aroused by the politicians who mostly reflect the society/constituency they represent.
2. Whereas the USA is a developed country on multiple account, India is sandwiched between primitive and modern values, so a prismatic or developing country. Politicians are too so who on one hand reflect their primordial beliefs of caste, religion, region, ethnicity etc., and on other hand vouch for modern ideas, development, inclusive growth, gender equality, multiculturalism, value pluralism etc.
3. Also, the level of development of society and mostly the life factors are determined by market economy in the USA make people empowered, less influenced by state driven service delivery, so politicians can't influence citizen beyond a limit, while people in India are highly dependent on state ,so, easily manipulable by politicians. So, it can be said the very ecology of the state, people and their level of development determine the quality and characters of its politicians.
4. As India will become developed on multiple account, it will too have politicians with varied modern outlook as the USA might be having. But the corruption, crookedness, and similar other deviant behaviour can no less be seen in the USA when they subscribe for neocolonialism, interference on the name of war on terrorism, islamophobia, dubious stand to play proxy war and advancement of unethical hegemony…..
5. Our inferiority complex may be because of most of our political act is very much confined to domestic imperatives and hence petty act of polarisation, cortuption, criminalization which are themselves heniuos for large hapless Indian population.
6. Nevertheless, we don't need to look out much beyond a limit when a galaxy of revered leaders had led country by examples in the past. learning from within and taking appropriate cue from outside will make our politicians too a man of global stature but with ethical outlook
